What You Need to Know
Fans are disgusted with the cheating
Much has been reported about the recent sign-stealing cheating scandals plaguing the game. Sign stealing has always been a part of the game organically - a team gets a runner on second base and can try to decipher signs. The use of video and even possibly buzzers underneath jerseys has has been reported, with new details emerging every day. It's not clear how rampant the cheating was, but it is obvious that details are emerging indicating it was endemic.
Fans are sick and tired of the cost to attend a game
The price for a family of four to attend a Major League Baseball game has become prohibitive. Ticket prices are outrageous, food prices are ridiculous, and the league should be ashamed at taking their fans for granted.
Fans are fed up with pace of play
Not every game can be a Greg Maddux 76-pitch 2:07 masterpiece. But with multiple trips to the mound in an inning (many times to change signs due to the cheating), batters going deep into counts (maybe because they know what pitches are coming), and money teams receive from overpriced concession sales - it's no wonder Major League baseball games averaged 3 hours, 5 minutes, 35 seconds in 2019.
